THE LAKE AISO AND L’AISELLO

THE LAKE AISO AND L’AISELLO

This beautiful, family-friendly itinerary takes us through the verdant Umbrian countryside to Lake Aiso, which legend has it was created by the sinking of the cottage of a blasphemous farmer who was reaping on the feast day of St. Anne. The lake, an artesian resurgence of rare beauty, is surrounded by a small park, with tables and a fountain, ideal for a break. Aiso is Umbria’s smallest Natura 2000 SCI (Site of Community Interest).
Not far away, another artesian lake, Aisello, hides the ruins of a sacred area dating back to the second century B.C B. C.
