THE CASTELBUONO SCULPTURE PARK

THE CASTELBUONO SCULPTURE PARK

Not only Giotto, Cimabue, Signorelli, Bozzoli, Perugino and Pinturicchio … With surprising continuity of artistic inspiration, Umbria, a land of Masters, offers, in addition to the best-known experiences of past eras, expressions of vitality of contemporary art: it is worth remembering that in Perugia, with Dottori and Marinetti, the founding of Futurism took place, or, again, to recall the work of Umbrians Burri, Leoncillo, and Dorazio, who was not Umbrian but chose, like many artists, directors, musicians, to live and work among the unparalleled serenity and beauty of these hills.
The Sculpture Park offers you about fifteen works of various styles, materials, authors, contextualized in the hillside landscape that dominates Pomodoro’s “Carapace,” inserted in its own right among those wineries-about ten, in Italy-that have been able, with the contribution of great architects and designers, to transform their wineries into true “temples” of wine, in this case, Sagrantino.
The itinerary conceived here deviates a little from the original one in that, instead of being articulated as a “round trip,” it also loops the beautiful village of Limigiano and still allows for a visit to the entire Park and the “Carapace” (tastings by reservation).

ROAD MAP

Leave the vehicle at the entrance to Castelbuono. Having visited the village, go down in the direction of Limigiano, and drive along the Sculpture Park to the provincial road that connects Bevagna to Bettona near a gas station, which you will cross, in lieu of driving the hundred meters of the busy provincial road. You then ascend to Limigiano, where, if you follow the itinerary, you will enter through the Porta Urbica, and then resume the Cammino degli Angeli, in the direction of Rome, to Castelbuono.
