11 Apr FROM BEVAGNA TO CASCO DELL’ACQUA
An itinerary for the whole family that, skirting the base of the Montefalco hill, propels us into the Umbrian Valley using the Assisi – Spoleto bicycle path and can also be the start for broader rides, discovering Trevi, Spoleto, Foligno. Protagonists, the Timia-Teverone-Marroggia hydrographic system, which we ride along on the outward journey, and the Clitumnus River, which we ride along on the return journey, and give us sudden appearances of White and Grey Herons, Little Egrets, Mallards and a varied avifauna that draws sustenance and shelter from the waterways.

Signage: Assisi Spoleto bike path on the outward journey, absent on return.
Water along the route: drinking fountain at Casco dell’Acqua.
Recommended season: year-round, but, in the summer months, should be tackled in the early morning hours.
Type of route: the itinerary on the outward ride on a protected bike path and on the return ride on very low-traffic vicarious roads or cross-country roads with a beaten earth bottom.

From the Piazzale dell’Accoglienza, having visited the Accolta wash house (pictured) we take the Assisi – Spoleto bicycle path, which takes us to Casco dell’Acqua. Finished the visit to Casco dell’Acqua we move on the Clitumnus until almost to Bevagna, where, returned to the bike path, we follow the same route outward until the parking lot.
